I am so grateful for my good health, and the health of my family. We have no chronic illnesses, and in general are super healthy people. I know that many people are not so fortunate.
For Riley's birthday last year, I crocheted caps for children battling with cancer. I posted the picture on Pinterest, and someone contacted me asking if I would be willing to make one for her 7-year-old student who is battling bone cancer. I know a cap isn't much, but it's a way that I can show I care. It just breaks my heart to think about someone so young going through something so terrible. And my heart aches for the parents that have to see their child suffer, knowing they can do nothing to help. I miss my Riley so very much, but at least every day with him was happy and wonderful. I cannot imagine having to watch my own child endure something so painful, not knowing if they will be able to beat it. I'm grateful for the chance I have to make a cap for this sweet child, and I suppose it's my way of thanking God that it is not my own child going through this. We certainly have our share of trials, but I am grateful that our health is not one of them.
